About this dieline
A crash lock bottom box is the folding carton whose base closes by itself: the box ships flat, and when you open it the bottom snaps shut. It is also called an auto-lock bottom or an automatic bottom. The top closes with a tuck-in flap, the same as a tuck box.
Enter the length, width and height and the board thickness, and download a print-ready PDF with cut and crease lines. The bottom works best when the box is not much wider than it is long, so the width is limited a little under 1.5 × the length.
Do I need to glue the bottom?
No. You glue one seam down the side, as on any folding carton, and the bottom locks itself when the box is opened. The small glue triangles on the bottom flaps are glued once at the factory.
Is the size inside or outside the box?
Crease to crease, the way box makers quote it. The clear space inside is about one board thickness smaller. Check the allowances with your printer, or print one at 1:1 and fold it first.
