Flat pouch sizes
A flat pouch is two layers of film sealed on three sides — with or without a zipper. It carries samples, tea, spices, snacks and supplements. These are the sizes most suppliers stock, as a starting point for your print.
Size chart
| Size | Width × height | Typical use | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 60 × 110 mm | 60 × 110 mm | Samples, single servings | Flat → With zipper → |
| 3 × 4.5 in | 76 × 114 mm | Tea, spices; about 1 oz of coffee beans | Flat → With zipper → |
| 4 × 6 in | 102 × 152 mm | The most common size; about 2 oz of coffee beans | Flat → With zipper → |
| 5 × 7 in | 127 × 178 mm | Snacks, supplements; about 4 oz of coffee beans | Flat → With zipper → |
| 6 × 9 in | 152 × 229 mm | Nuts, snacks | Flat → With zipper → |
| 7 × 10 in | 178 × 254 mm | Larger snack packs | Flat → With zipper → |
| 8 × 12 in | 203 × 305 mm | Bulk refills, about 1 lb | Flat → With zipper → |
Typical starting points, not a standard. How much a pouch holds depends on the product: the same 4 × 6 in pouch takes about 2 oz of whole coffee beans, while a lighter product fills it at a lower weight. Fill a sample with your real product before you order.
How to read the sizes
- Width × height — the outside of the finished pouch, seals included. Some sellers, mostly in Germany, quote the inside instead; then the pouch is a little bigger all round.
- Seals — take roughly 5–10 mm on each side, so the printable face is smaller than the pouch. The dieline shows exactly how much.
Where the zipper goes
The zipper usually sits 15–40 mm below the top — closer on small pouches, lower on big ones — with the tear notches just above it, so the customer tears the top off and then reseals. You set its position in the generator.
A note on names
Some sellers call a flat three-side seal pouch a “pillow pouch”. On this site a pillow pouch is the back-seal bag that chips come in.
