Wicket bag sizes
Wicket bags come stacked on a wire through holes in their lip, so a bakery or a packing line can pull one off and fill it in a second. These are the bottom-gusset sizes bakeries use most, as a starting point for your print.

Typical starting points, not a standard. All with the usual 1½ in (38 mm) lip on top; the links fill it in. Your printer will adapt the size to your product and their machine.
How to measure a wicket bag
- Width — across the bag, lying flat.
- Length — the usable length, from the bottom to the opening. The lip is on top of it.
- Bottom gusset — the full depth of the bottom when it is opened out, usually 2½ or 4 in (64 or 102 mm). In our generator the field is the fold depth, half of that — the links above fill it in for you.
- Lip — the strip above the opening that holds the wicket holes. 1½ in (38 mm) is the standard; 1¾–3 in (45–76 mm) also exists. It stays on the wire when the bag is torn off, so keep artwork out of it.
Side gusset bread bags
The classic tall bread bag, such as 8 × 4 × 18 in, has its gussets on the sides instead of the bottom, and is usually sold loose rather than on a wicket. Its layout is different from the one drawn here. In the UK and Europe wicketed bakery bags are usually sold as width × length in mm, from about 150 × 250 mm up to 300 × 400 mm.
